The Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza has distributed disinfectants to some internally displaced person’s in the state.
Bishop Dami Mamza alongside the coordinator of the Justice Development and Peace Commission and the priest overseeing the affairs of the IDP camp, Reverend Father Maurice Kwairanga commenced the distribution exercise at saint Theresa jimeta IDP camp today, Friday 25 April 2020.
“The church deemed it necessary to reach out to the internally displaced person’s going by the rate at which the coronavirus is spreading in the country” He explained.
The cleric pointed out that the church has to take the responsibility of sensitizing the IDP on how to protect themselves against the novel COVID-19.
Bishop Mamza stated that the gesture will be extended to other displaced person’s camp at badarisa in Girei Local Government.
Advising them on personal hygiene Bishop Mamza said “Please make good use of the items and adhere to personal hygiene by regular washing of your hands with soap under running water”
The Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese also appeal to people in the state to be their brother’s keepers especially the wealthy individuals to support the needy at this critical period.
Items distributed included hypo detergent,soap,hand sanitizer and face masks. So far the deadly COVID-19 has claimed over one hundred and eighty lives leaving hundreds of thousand hospitalized.
